Best Mileage Bikes in India: Affordable Options for Daily Commute

    AdminBy AdminSeptember 30, 2025

In India, where petrol price keeps going up and traffic is almost everywhere, having a fuel-efficient bike is not just smart, it’s kinda necessary. If you travel to office, college or market everyday, even saving few kilometers per litre adds up big in long run.

So, when looking for a good commuter bike, mileage should be at the top of the list (specially if your pocket is tight). But just good mileage is not enough, you also need comfort, reliability and affordable maintainance.

Here’s a list of some of the best mileage bikes in India in 2025 that are also budget friendly and perfect for daily use. I’ll also share some tips to get the most mileage from any bike.

What to Consider in a Mileage Bike?

Before jumping into the list, here’s some quick things to look for when picking a bike for daily travel:

    • Fuel Efficiency (obviously)

    • Engine Size: Smaller cc engines (like 100cc or 110cc) usually give more mileage

    • Comfort: Seat and suspension matter if you ride a lot

    • Light weight: Light bikes are easier to handle in traffic and consume less fuel

    • Low Maintenance: Easy and cheap servicing is a big plus

    • Availability of Parts: In case anything breaks down

Top Mileage Bikes in India Right Now

    1. Hero HF Deluxe

This bike is one of the most selling commuter bikes in India and the reason is simple — it gives great mileage. On normal Indian roads and riding condition, you can expect around 80 to 83 kmpl if you ride it nicely.

Also, this one is simple to use, easy to repair and doesn’t cost a bomb.

    2. Bajaj Platina 100 / 110

Platina series is already famous for mileage. It’s a go-to bike for people who ride long everyday. The average mileage you can get is around 75 to 80 kmpl depending on traffic and how you ride.

It’s super light, very simple engine, and the suspension is also soft which helps on bad roads.

    3. Hero Splendor Plus

This one is maybe the most iconic commuter bike ever in India. Everyone’s uncle or cousin had a Splendor once, lol. But joke aside, this bike gives really solid mileage — around 70 to 75 kmpl, and also very reliable.

The new models have some upgrades like digital display and mobile charging too.

    4. TVS Sport

TVS Sport is stylish looking compared to other simple commuter bikes, and it doesn’t compromise on mileage. You can get about 70 to 75 kmpl if you ride it gently. It’s also light, has good seating position, and looks a bit more sporty than others in the list.

    5. TVS Star City Plus

Another TVS bike that’s popular with daily riders. Claimed mileage is around 83 kmpl but in real world you can expect about 70‑75 easily. It’s more comfy than TVS Sport and has electric start, LED headlamp and some other features that help in day-to-day usage.

    6. TVS Radeon

TVS Radeon is not just about mileage (which is around 65 to 70 kmpl), but also about comfort. Big seat, good grip, decent styling and strong built quality makes it good for people who ride a lot in rough roads or rural areas.

    7. Honda Shine 100

If you like Honda engines and want a mileage-focused option, Shine 100 is a very good choice. Mileage is around 65 to 70 kmpl, and you get a smooth engine that lasts long. This is a new model but based on Honda’s long-time reputation in commuter segment.

    Real Mileage vs Company Mileage

Companies will always say “80 or 90 kmpl” in ads, but let’s be real — those figures are in perfect test conditions. In real city traffic with potholes, braking, and signals, mileage is usually 10 to 15 kmpl lower.

Your weight, road condition, weather, tyre pressure, and how you use clutch and brakes all affect real mileage.

Tips to Improve Your Bike’s Mileage

Even the best bike won’t give good mileage if you don’t take care of it. Here’s some simple things you can do:

    • Keep tyre pressure correct – under-inflated tyres drag more

    • Use correct engine oil – follow what company recommends

    • Avoid harsh braking and fast acceleration

    • Change gears properly – don’t ride in low gear too long

    • Clean air filters regularly

    • Don’t overload – heavy load = more fuel

    • Avoid idling engine for long

    • Go for regular servicing

Price Comparison (approx, may vary by city)

    Bike Mileage (approx) Price (Ex-showroom)
    Hero HF Deluxe 83 kmpl ₹ 60,000 – ₹ 65,000
    Bajaj Platina 100 75‑80 kmpl ₹ 65,000 – ₹ 70,000
    Hero Splendor Plus 70‑75 kmpl ₹ 72,000 – ₹ 77,000
    TVS Sport 75 kmpl ₹ 63,000 – ₹ 68,000
    TVS Radeon 70 kmpl ₹ 72,000 – ₹ 76,000
    Honda Shine 100 65‑70 kmpl ₹ 65,000 – ₹ 69,000

Note: Prices change depending on city, color, offers etc

    Who Should Choose Mileage Bikes?

    Mileage bikes are best for:

    • Students – who ride to college everyday

    • Office workers – who travel 20–40km daily

    • Delivery guys – for Swiggy, Zomato, courier etc.

    • Budget buyers – if you just want something simple and cheap to run

    Conclusion

If you want a good bike for daily commuting, going for high mileage makes total sense. You’ll save thousands every year on petrol, and most of these bikes also come with low maintenance cost and solid resale value.

Depending on your budget and how far you ride every day, you can choose one from the list. If money is super tight, HF Deluxe or Platina 100 will save you the most. If you want a mix of mileage + features, go for TVS Sport or Splendor Plus.

Just remember, even the best mileage bike needs good riding habits and regular care. So treat your bike nicely, and it’ll return the favour at the fuel pump!
